Question about my female BP doing some skydiving...

As I was removing all the tape out of my enclosure and hot-glueing the temp probe and wires down, my snake was wandering about my bed (which is about 2 feet off the ground) she then decided she wanted to go "skydiving" and fall completely onto the carpeted floor. I picked her up and exmained her and she seemed fine so I put her back on the bed while I finished. The next day she ate a small live rat (Her First!! and yes, I'm very careful about live. I wait for the strike and then open the tub to make sure she hit the head and the rat wasnt chewing on her). Anywho, I was searching along here for info and saw that a guy said a BP can be injured from a slight fall because of their weight and that made me worried. As far as I can tell shes acting normal, had no problem striking and constricting the small rat and is currently relaxing/digesting on the hot side and giving me the most pissed off look I've ever seen. Probably has something to do with me lifting her hide to check on her after that rat. So... What do you guys/girls think? Is she ok? It was just a 1.5-2 foot fall/slide onto carpet.

Well snakes can go through horrific injuries and never show signs of pain, so i would watch carefully to make sure shes pooping normally, eating normally, etc. I don't think she got hurt in a fall like that, but just watch her to make sure and if worst comes to worst, go to the VET.

Well, she hasn't pooped since I got her which has been addressed in another thread but she is def. eating normally/acting normally. I'll keep a eye on her!

Oy, snakes are SO clumsy! I've had the same thing happen, more than once I must admit... my bed is pretty high (over 3ft?), and nobody's been injured from falling down. I'd definitely keep an eye on her, but it sounds like she'll be fine.

Yep mine has taken quite a few dives off the bed as well. I think more or less its a failed attempt the reach the floor and smoothly pull themselves down. And they just end up falling. Mine hasnt been hurt from it. But I just try to be very cautious of it. Especially if they are on high surfaces like counters or what not. Also You may wanna reconsider putting em on ur bed. I stopped doing that when my bp decide to poop and pee 3 times in two weeks on my bed. A lot of laundry.... Now he is not allowed on my bed lol

Hahahahahaha thats hilarious and I can see Vega doing that, especially after I just changed out her substrate/water. She was NOT happy because shes in blue and about to shed. Anyway, it's been 2 days she she was fed (fed saturday) and she seems fine.

Mine have done this a bunch of times, and it makes me laugh. The first couple of times it scared me too though not gonna lie. They make a little thud to when they hit the ground, and then look all embarrassed like "you didn't just see me do that..."

They don't seem to mind it because as soon as they "thud" onto the ground they just continue on there way like nothing happened. And then You pick em up to inspect em and they are like "hey you messed up my groove"

She's probably fine at that height, especially landing on carpet. I don't worry about any fall under 3 feet.

I have a couple snakes that have decided it's too much work to figure out how to climb gracefully down from sofas and tabletops: My female pied is long enough to get her chin on the ground and then let her tail just flop down behind her. And my het pied male has decided it saves time to simply charge over the edge of everything.

I keep a close eye if they manage to climb over 4 feet or 5 feet off the ground, and I'll take them down if they make it higher than eye level. But they're just too naturally clutzy to worry about all the little falls.
