Bp trying to eat rat without constricting it
My buddys bp decided to try and eat his live rat tail first without constricting it... needless to say I had to save the snake from the rat and thump it and toss it back in as prekilled never seen this happen before any suggestions why it happened?

sometimes I think they get lazy. I would just make it a point to pre kill it from now on. There are some stories out there about bad stuff happening with snakes swallowing something live. Now whether it is true or not????? But I like to err on the side of caution.

My male tried to constrict without striking once. He went off feed a week later, I think he was just getting lazy.

Zeus is really finicky as well, he's a rescue. He was eating every week for about a month, and then he decided that was too much work for him I guess.

They are not the sharpest tacks in the bulletin board--that's probably the only real explanation, lol.
