    humidity issue

Hi, I was really having trouble keeping the humidity up in my rack system with the ventilation holes I put in (and I didn't even put many in), so I covered them up with tape. To my surprise, the humidity is still in the 40% range. The space between the tub and the shelf is about 1mm (very small), and I have the water dishes at the back over the heat source too. I never had humidity issues before when I used lids so I'm wondering what could be causing the issue. I can't completely seal the containers or they'll suffocate! Any ideas? Maybe I will be forever misting....

    Re: humidity issue

get a humidifier for the room. if you use a hide or hides they are also called humidity chambers. you don't have to raise the humidity in the entire tub if the snake spends most of the time in the hide. just don't have the snake laying in a puddle of water.

what i do in my setup is i have about a 1/4 inch gap in the tub and rack, i put the lid on when they are in shed, bumps the humidity up to about 80% and they shed perfectly. Take it off and we are back to 45%, the same humidity as my room.

You can use a Humidifier, change to cypress bedding, mist several times daily while in shed, or if possible, buy tubs with no holes in them and see if a lid will fit!
