So this lady wanted my snakes killed...

My mother has a friend, and she hates snakes. She thinks they can kill with "just one bite". Yes, SOME snakes can, but she thinks ALL snakes can. My friend found a tarantula at his house, and while we were letting it go free she said "Don't tarantulas kill snakes? Maybe he can kill your snakes for me". I'm 14, shes like 34, pretty immature if you ask me. So I said "Maybe I should kill your dogs, because you have 2 small children, and those dogs are huge (they are great danes) and could easily kill your kids, PLUS dogs kill 700 people a year in the US alone, and snakes kill 10-15. Anyone ever had a similar situation?

Constrictors kill an average of 0.5 people per year(this does not count venomous native wild snakes). Dogs kill on average of 20 people a year in the US.

Other than that, like the attitude. Pointing out that the snakes are your PETS and she should have some sort of sensitivity towards that, whether or not she likes snakes herself, is my normal tactic too.

wow she was quite disrespectful. I mean I understand not liking snakes...but that type of talk is really uncalled for especially from a 30 something. Just remember state the facts and don't drop down to her level.

That's crazy. I'm glad you pointed out to her that dogs kill more people than snakes, even if the number were exaggerated

When people talk down to me over having snakes I stay calm and just state the facts. Then they realize "Oh... Crap I got nothin" and lose interest real fast. After that they generally stay away from the subject.
