Whats the deal with fires?

They are relatively new to me as a morph and what they can do. I know they are het for black eyed lucys. Mostly i would like to know what to look for in a quality hatchling fire. Is it like a pastel, look for bright color with nice blushing or? I like that they get lighter with age instead of darker. And i think it would be quite cool to pair up with a spider. Anyone have any good pics of an adult fire or older fire combo morphs? Im going to the Tucson AZ reptile show next weekend and was planning on getting an albino female but this could be something i might want instead. What does everyone think of these for their potential? Pastels and the combos associated with them have obviously dropped a lot in price (as with many animals) you can find them as cheap as normals sometimes and i've even been seeing bumble bees as low as $400-425. I really don't care about making money (because i know i won't be making any) but if i had the choice i'd rather invest in something that would hold its value better than another morph i like.

In general recessives, like albino, hold their value better than co-doms, like fire.

That said, I love fires and fire combos! I don't think you will go wrong with a quality animal of either morph.

Wow, i don't know if its your camera or what but he/she is real nice and light. A lot of the pictures i see of fires as hatchlings don't look much different than normals. I think i need to see a bunch of them in person to truly understand what to look for. As of now im kind of lost as to what traits as a hatchling grow into a big beautiful light and bright fires, hhhmmmm?

I have always loved the desert ghosts vivid contrast and to me the fires are better especially with everything they can do with combos. Oh yeah, i definitely need one. Especially now that i found out Black Eyed Lucys don't necessarily mean an all white snake. You can get a "dirty lucy" and they almost look like a light pied (type in super fire in the search box). Its funny, for the last 5 months i have been basically dead set on an albino female with the occasional wandering thought about another morph but then these guys just lit up in my mind yesterday and I HAVE to get one. I know a local breeder that has four girls so i should have plenty of choices this upcoming weekend. Ill post some pictures of my little scalekids as soon as i can. Does anyone have a description as what to look for in a hatchling fire? Should i just pick the ones that appeals to me the most?

I really don't care about making money (because i know i won't be making any) but if i had the choice i'd rather invest in something that would hold its value better than another morph i like.

Being a co-dom means eventually the supply will be greater than the demand, and like "most" co-doms eventually will lose a lot of it's value.

Recessives tend to hold value better than co-dom or Dom traits, and breeding those recessives into other morphs for combos is a great way to expand the collection and move into combos that will hold their value a bit longer.

I figure if you breed what makes you smile when you open the tub/enclosure you'll keep that fire burning *no pun intended *

Ive hatched out 15 fires this year & no they dont look like normals even the darker ones & also the color is variable from snake to snake I think its random how bright they are my male is darker then my female but he prodused some super bright fires & some darker ones too.Also got 4 spiderfires which are hott!growing the male "spiderfly" out this year to throw on my pastel females,love the combos they make going to be replacing my normal girl with fire girls in the next year or so.

She IS very nice and light. You are right, lots of them look like normals as babies. I figure this one ought to be seriously nice when she grows up, I can't wait! I am trying to find a quality boy-friend for her now.
