    Stunted growth?

Hi there everyone, I run a small independant reptile rescue in my community and today we just got in our first Red tail boa, according to the woman who brought him in, a co-worker of hers brought him into work and left him there because he "Didn't want him anymore" (People like this really kill me...)

She says that he told her the boa is about 5 years old and has only been given food about once every 6-10 weeks "when he remembered". The poor little boa is very small, only 20-24 inches long and really thin.

My question for the experienced handlers is, can we correct this damage? Or is little Simon destined to be a "tea-cup" boa for the rest of his life?

Any imput would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you ^_^

    Re: Stunted growth?

idk if boas are the same but i had a corn snake that was neglected and i started feeding it pinky's which is weird for a snake that's 3 years old! and i fed it twice a week. pretty much whenever it would take one. then after about 2 months i moved up to larger rodents. it took about 4-5 months to reverse the damage the previous owner did to it, but i did it. just take your time

o and btw sorry for not being an experienced handler....but i tried lol

Thank you for the imput, it makes me hopeful that he can at least get some of his proper size/weight back.

Will do ^_^ He's settling in now but once he's had some time to aclimate (He had a 4.5 hour trip to get to us) I'll post a picture and an update on his condition.
