Another cage by my hubby

This time with doors for a couple of my lizards. He did the cage and the wiring and I did the back wall. All of it is tiled in laminate and made out of Pine. The backdrope is made out of styrofoam then covered in cement...painted...and sealed. Hope you like it.....I LOVE it and think he did such an amazing job!! Even did all the router work himself.

I have to admitt this one was A LOT of work!!! He did a ton of router work plus the doors apparently were quite the challange. I do the staining and we were trying to match some family room furniture. It took a mix of 4 different stains to make the color right. All in all it took us an entire month to complete this one. I did not think it would ever get done....lol

The back walls were fairly easy though. I was dreading trying the process but when finished I was in love with it. I think moving forward I will probably do this in most of our cages. Turned out very sturdy for the reptiles and waterproof which is great since I have to spray for humidity.

As a side note if you decide to build something like this ours are both 4x2x2. I would make the top a little taller as we are having some challenges with it getting a little too hot as heat rises. We will be installing a mister into the top to assist in more heat control as well as a couple more vents. But if I had to do over ....I would probably add another foot to the height.

Those are great cages, i can see you cutting some holes in the side for air ventilation and heat control over time. They look very professional and i would love to have one of those for a reptile!

Thanks...yea both cages have 2 air vents each but I think in at least the top one we are going to add 2 more.
