degei progam ( and I am currently irked)

I went to look over my reptile records this morning on degei and realized thatthe records I created last night for my hatchling were gone. So I got to spend about an hour creating the files nothing fancy since i still can't get all the options to work for me. Just mainly stuff like cage maintance and when I feed and when they shed and all( for now). I am really irked. I was hopnigo t ohave this data completed and ready to switch over to a laptop( possible net book one day to keep in the reptile room) Butwhat made me really irked was after I done these files and in put all the feeding info I had on them ( which was in a text file I had erased once done last night ) I go to check it and it all frigging gone all 12 records.

So I can't say who has been eating great or who was the trouble ones ( outside the pastels ) for me. I guess I will have to restart the data again and consider printing out a basic sheet per snake and keep in a binder or something as a hard copy. I am glad at least I was not relying on photo id system to see who was het pied andwho was no not I used a marker on their tubs lol

man this is going to be eithera bad day or I need to to go back to keeping a smaller collection lol. ( i don't want to use Iherp since it online.) I guess pull out open office or maybe get a notebook ( which sucks cause i can't read my own handwriting.) lol

If you deleted the file last night, its a good bet its still in the recycle bin.

Go try restoring it from the recycle bin?

Re: degei progam ( and I am currently irked)

nope I have the pc set up to run diskclean up( nightly) and defrag (every 3rd night) I was hoping it had not done it ( since it was 1 am when I went to bed and just erased the file but it looks like the diskclean up ran right after.

Ican just compare the weights and see who looks skinnier to get an ideal of who not eating as much. ( these guys don't get homes until I know they doing better). I just can't say right now that abc are eating mice only or if they eating anything dropped into the tub.
I just know the pied is a slithering vacuum lol. it eating large mice and acts like she wants more when she so full she can bearly move lol..

Sorry to hear that happened to you, what a pain. Have you looked at Vyper? The rack and bin booklet feature is pretty cool. When I print a new one off I keep the old in a file for that just in case something like this happens. I personally like seeing the physical records, but it keeps data very nicely if you like tracking with the laptop better.

    Ouch!!

I learned this lesson a few years ago and now automatically backup all the records in degei to an external drive every time I am about to close the program.

I also use small cards on the hatchling tubs themselves as this gives me something to pass onto the new owners if they don't use computers.
