When should a BP be moved to a larger tank?
My bp is a few months old and currently resides in a 20 gallon tank. She seems really comfortable in it and I don't think it is time to move to a 30 or 40 gallon yet, but at what age/size would you normally upgrade?

I would upgrade when the space is getting to small to hold 2 hides, one in warm and one in cool end, as well as an appropriate sized water dish.
Many people keep them quite well in smaller enclosures and tubs, I like to keep them in display cages, so they have a lot of room. However, my enclosures are professional reptile cages, so they hold heat and humidity very well, and also keep the snake feeling safer because of solid sides, back and top (not see through) Also easy to maintain and keep clean.
I make sure to have lots of places to hide and to let them thermoregulate.
Large glass cages are IMHO a real pain to deal with. I would rather get a used reptile cage (and clean + sanitize very very well) then a new, bigger glass tank...

I heard the general rule is if your snake can reach both side of the tank while fully stretched out, its to small. I have a baby in a 10 gallon and a yearling in a 20.

Not always. All in how you setup for humidity. All I have to do is take and cover my screen top with Aluminum foil and that usually bumps up my humidity another 10% or so. My house stays around 50% anyway, so I'm all good there. Plus if you spray a little water in there or do a humid hide, you can usually have a good shed.
My little one is in a 10 gallon right now and she doesn't need much more yet. In a while she'll probably need a 20g L, but no rush right now. My Dumerils is a little bit larger and she's in a 20g L and won't need another one for quite some time.
