White stuff around eye
About a month ago my bp had a bad shed and some skin/scales got stuck in the corner of his eye. He tried to get out himself, but all he did was brake the skin and make it bleed. So i brought him to the vet ad he said it should all be fixed with the next shed but if not then to come back. Well that just happened and now it looks like this..

Should i go back to the vet?

Re: White stuff around eye
looks to be a retained eyecap! nothing serious, just soak her in warm water in an enclosed tupperware for 15 minutes everyday after she hits her blue phase before her shed till she sheds! good luck

It looks like he has a retained eye cap, try the damp pillow case trick.

OK thanks guys. Saves me an expensive trip to the vet
On a side note, what about the whole mineral oil and qtip thing, does that really work?

yes, it really works, you just have to be very careful and gentle. I always put the mineral oil on and let it soak in overnight. To be honest, you don't even have to use a Qtip. I let the mineral oil soak in overnight, take a lukewarm damp washcloth, hold it in my hand, and let the snake crawl through it with a little pressure. Caps come off every time

Re: White stuff around eye
if you are going to do that be careful to not mistake the perm eye covering and take that off. We had a member on here not too long ago that a vet actually did that. Sadly the snake was then blind in at least 1 eye

I'm going to say that needs a vet to look at it.. I don't think that's a retained eye cap. The area around the eye is swollen and the white looks to be the "white" connective tissue that is normally not visible. Yea this animal has something that needs vet attention..
You can see here how the Ocular scales transition smoothly on to they eye with very little angle to them at all

Even better here you can see how those scales transition with little to not angle to them

Where as in your image the first row of scales around the eye has a very drastic angle.. I believe the eye socked itself is swollen giving it a bug eye'd appearance..
Either way it's worth having it looked at

Ok so a little update. I went to the vet and she said that it was a scar from when he broke the skin there trying to get a cap off. And there is nothing that can be done for that. Other then that hes a very healthy BP

Glad to hear he'll be alright. I didn't think it was retained eye cap, but I wasn't sure so I didn't comment.
