here's a newb question: what does 'ch' and 'cb' stand for?

As the title asks, what does 'ch' and 'cb' stand for? I'm guessing 'captive hatched' or 'captive bred'?

Exactly! CH stands for Captive Hatched and CB stands for either Captive Born or Captive Bred. Some people use CBB meaning Captive Born and Bred.

    Yes, you understand right.

"Captive hatched" usually refers to farms in Africa that collect eggs from the wild (or collect gravid females and keep them until the eggs are laid) and incubate them...then export the hatchlings all over the world.

"Captive bred" usually refers to animals that are born to captive parents. (also sometimes referred to as "cbb or "captive born AND bred")
