Feeding :)

Hello everyone


Ok so I fed my female on Tuesday morning, and she was fine ate and everything. But on Wednesday she regurgitated


So I tried to feed her again on Saturday, she did not show any interest what so ever.

My question is how long should I wait to feed again:

After a regurgitation
After showing no interest?


I have tried everything! pre-scenting etc...

I think it could be her new substrate?

First if one of your snakes you should NOT feed for at least 2 weeks so it is actually a good thing she did not eat.

Now when it comes to regurgitation this need to be address as it can be a serious issue especially with young animals.

You need to narrow it down and find out what may have cause the regurgitation.

Regurgitation can be caused by low temps, stress, improperly thawed or bad F/ feeder, and internal parasites.

If when you feed again in two weeks your BP regurgitate again you will need to take it to a vet.

I have a track sheet of everything, temps etc... I check them weekly and the only thing I can link it up to is the substrate change? could that be the reason?

What kind of substrate are you using? I have never heard of substrate causing a regurge. I could be wrong though.

What are your temps?

What does your set up look like?

How long have you had the snake, approx. how old is it?

How often do you hold your snake?

You need to give us a run down on how you do things as sometimes regurg. can be through stress, or improper husbandry.

Ok so, I keep her in the medium size exo terra cage, hide box and water bowl.

Her temps are kept at the same the whole time, the substrate is a peach/??? susbtrate it looks like sand. I think I handled her to early after she ate, that was the problem.


The good news:


Put her back on too paper towls today, and decided I would give it a go as soon as I took her hide box out to feed, I say her with her neck in a S And bam!!!!!

It's too soon.....someone told you you should wait 2 weeks before offering to feed again, as a regurge is very upsetting to the snake's digestive system. Now you have fed her again.......her gut has not had time to re-establish the natural flora necessary for healthy digestion. For her sake I hope she doesn't regurge again.

You really should have waited to feed her. This feeding is going to put a lot of stress on her system. It is highly suggested that you wait two weeks after a regurge to feed the snake again. I don't know exactly what kind of substrate you were describing as peach stuff, but it doesn't sound good. I would ditch that substrate. You can use newpaper, paper towels, cypress mulch, or aspen for substrate. I really hope your snake will be ok. Please don't feed her again if she can't hold down this meal that you just fed her.

Not sure why you ask for advice if you do not want to listen.

The advice given was not to ensure your animal would eat but for it's on health...oh well
