Hurricane Earl ..... Might need help.

    Hello!
So my wife and I just got word from our commands that we may be have to be evacuated and not have a choice. This is fine, but I have about 30 snakes that I have no idea what Im going to do with. I know I can pack them up, but feeding/housing may become an issue if this storm destroys my house. I don't know where Im going to keep them if my house is demolished. I don't want to keep them in tubs for upwards of months if this storm sweeps my house away.

I wanted to know any ideas you guys might have, a way I can house them, keep them heated, etc. Is anyone located in the western portion of Virginia, or Ohio that has room for some snakes?! I know its a lot to ask to house 30 snakes, but I do not want my little animals to die. It doesn't matter if I miss the season coming up, I just fear for their lives. I am loaded with heat packs, water bowls, and enough tubs to house them all.

Any other ideas? I can pay/compensate for your troubles, but I just have to keep my animals safety on my priority list.

    Thanks!

    Trey Jackson

I am in central Ohio. Just north of Columbus. I have a temperature controled basement with lots of shelving down there where I store all of the stuff I sell on Ebay. My husband would have a hissy if I loaned the space out, so it would be just if your house is demolished and you paid for their food. Maybe someone closer has a spot. But in all likelyhood your home will be fine .

whats wrong with tubs? my ball pythons live in tubs their whole lives, as for heating, flexwatt is the cheapest way.

if it going to be months like you said, i would find a few bookcases and lay down flexwatt on each shelf and put the tubs on the shelves. i think it be the easiest thing to do. im sure you'll figure something out.

I would help you out if i could, but I live in michigan.

The idea of bookshelves is good. Where ever it is you are goiing till the storm is gone, just make sure ahead of time you can keep your snakes there a while. Then get some of those plastic hardware shelves. They are easy to trasport and quick to take apart and put together. They wont hold heat as well as a wooden rack but are better than nothing and a quick solution.

Im not talking about Rack Tubs or Sterilite Tubs, Im just saying them not being in their normal rack housing, and being moved around all the time. In all honesty, I dont think anything is going to come of this storm, but if it does, Im gonna be lost as a ball in tall grass until I can get them a steady living arrangement.

I know I'm far and you don't know me, but if worse comes to worse, if you want to ship a few out to Texas I'll definitely take care of a few and ship them back to you. I'd hate for this to happen my snakies... Best of luck and here's to hoping it doesn't hit land! I have a friend in Virginia that might have to evacuate too, Idk how far out he's going but if he makes it out this far, but if both of y'all have to evacuate, I'll see if he can get a couple snakes for you so there's no real shipping cost.
