    handeling question

OK so I was reading the post about do our snakes recognize us, and it seems so many agree that they do . So I was wanting to take my ball to my daughters school and he is sooooooo sweet I thought he would be good with the kids . But I am the only one who handles him at my house so does that mean that he will bite or be canky with the kids ?

    Re: handeling question

i am the only one handling my ball but i think she got used to being handled by other people since i always bring her to my org where i volunteer. but before bringing her there i make sure that she has already eaten, the person handling her is already briefed of the do's and dont's, and for added precautionary measure, i ask them to wash their hands.

and also, i try to calm her first before letting someone handle her and i make sure that those who will handle her will not get scared or freak out.

    hope this helps!

I don't believe that any ball would be snippy or cranky with new people, as long as they know what they're doing more or less. If anything it might be a bit shy, but I seriously doubt that it would go for one of the kids just because they aren't you.

I transport my snakes in a snake bag or pillowcase, and then in a rubbermaid container. For short trips I don't bother with heat. But if its a longer trip I will bring an extra heat pad and thermostat. If there are no outlets where I am going I will bring an instant heat pack thing.

You can kinda tell when they start to get stressed. their movements are more like them trying to get away than them just casually checking things out.

Ball pythons are pretty chill snakes. They are generally good around new people but any new situation is going to be stressful to your animal. It is wise to limit handling and to limit the number of people to keep stress levels low. If you notice your animal getting stressed, it is probably time to give them some alone time.
