BP Shelter
Hi everyone, I just got my first ball python about two weeks ago and I need ideas for a shelter for her. Ever since I got her she has been living in a flipped-over cardboard box with an entry hole cut into one side, and she seems to like it. The problem is that I would like her to have a shelter that looks more natural, and I can't find any shelters that are big enough for her online. Ideas?

Some people also have threads about making clay hides too. But the plastic ones are easier to clean, and you can always hide them with fake vines or even bedding.

I used to have a BP about the same size. He was 54 inches and weighed about 2300 grams. I used the Reptile Basics large size hides for him. It always amazed me that he could squeeze in there, but he did. They measure 13.25"L x 9"W x 3.25"H.

Re: BP Shelter
I found some plastic mixing bowls at Walmart that I flipped over and cut an entrance hole in. I then used a lighter to melt any sharp edges. I use these in my racks. My smaller snakes like them. I have a ceramic flower pot in with my son's 20 gal tank that I took a hammer to crack an entrance hole at the bottom (It cracked the pot in several places as well but I gorilla glued the whole thing back together). My larger snakes that I have in my racks do not get hides.

Make your own for just a couple bucks and 5 minutes of time.
