Planning a few night expeditions in Southern Tucson, AZ

I am moving to Tucson from Los Angeles and wanted to do a little night exploring in the Tucson desert. I've done plenty of hikes here in S. Cal, but havent done the desert. So I was just hoping for some advice on where/when to go in Tucson AZ.

Here is a pic of a Mountain Kingsnake I found up in Sacramento (By Pinecrest). I took a few pics then let him go:

There are so many places to go....geez just head out I19 toward Sahuarita and it is nothing but desert. There is also the park area near the Desert Museum that you can go to as well. Best time to see Rattlers is probably as the sun is starting to go down. (Geez for that you can just come to my house...lol)

By the way if you haven't checked out the Desert Museum...you will probably love it. All natural setting...everything is basically in their element!!
