    Think I'll build an enclosure....

I have decided that I'm going to attempt to build a homemade enclosure for my BP and for a furture BP. I sell PVC Boards and Sheets so I can get them dirt cheap, if not for free. Is PVC safe? Also, I'm wondering...How should I set up the heating and venting? Any ideas?

A lot of cage builders use PVC. I wish that I had a good supplier for PVC sheets LOL. A ball python cage can be built EASILY from one sheet of PVC. I would suggest using the PVC to build a rack though.

You can find plenty of designs for great racks that hold the CB70 tubs from Iris. In fact, you can buy CB70 tubs with water bowl holders from ARS caging very reasonably.

If you are planning on having another Ball in the near future you will probably end up with more than that in the future. You might as well take the time now to make space for them.

If you don't want to build a rack I would suggest building stackable cages at the very least.

    How dirt cheap?

Expanded PVC is a great choice for building a rack for BP's. I've done 2 of them.

I wouldn't go any smaller than 1/2 inch thickness though.

I did a hatchling rack out of 1/4 inch and it's a little flimsy so I had to add some extra supports but the 1/2 is perfect.

My boss just gave me 2 sheets of 4' x 10' of PVC because of a little bit of damage. These are 1/2" thick so I'm set. Now I just gotta buy flex watt and thermostat. THis will take me awhile because it's my first "carpenter project". I'll def post some pics along the way Thanks!!

Re: Think I'll build an enclosure....

I think I'll eventually end up making racks. But right now, I wanna make a pretty display....Even though my snake probably will hardly ever be seen lol....Reason being is I just moved into my mom's basement to help her make her mortgage and gave up the house I was renting. So I'm at a temporary spot and just trying to take my BP addiction slow lol...but honestly I can't wait to build racks and have more! Actually house shopping now and I'm making sure that I have one room dedicated to my slithery friends

Well good luck with the house hunting. Getting ready to move also, planning on building a custom enclosure for my BP and bearded dragon. Not a very experienced carpenter, but I think it will be fun. Going to leave room to expand the enclosure eventually for at least one more BP though, definitely easy to get addicted.

How "conveinient"! Lol that's how I get all of my stuff from work. Just so happens it's what I need to finish a project and it comes up "damaged"!!!

Yep, works every time! lol We sell that stuff wholesale and it's expensive....I'd HATE to see what they sell it for at retail stores. I know for a fact that Lowes have put an 50-70% upcharge on stuff that I've sold to them.....

The Lowes in Philadelphia do not sell EPVC, I've tried.

    I can get 1/4" thickness 4'x8' sheet for 30 bucks and 1/2" thickness 4'x8' sheet for $90
