    Bleeding from breeding?

I had my male in with my 2500 gram female just to see if love was in the air and I took him out just the other day to feed and I noticed 4 drops of blood but they were perfectley spaced apart in two different areas of the enclosure. I tried finding online to see if they ever bleed from breeding but I could not find anything. So does this happen sometimes? I mean I looked them over and they had no marks on their bodies or even their vents but I was just curious if anyone else has ever noticed this?

    Re: Bleeding from breeding?

Strangly enough just yesterday I paired my lessers.I usually use newspaper but was out so I lined the tub with patternless papertowels.I was checking on them this morning after they locked all day yesterday and noticed a few small red dots that looked like blood.I gave them both a once over and they looked fine, not a mark on either one or any blood near the vent. I was concerned but there were no marks and they were acting fine so I didnt think it was that big a deal. Its funny you made this post as I was wondering about this.I would love to hear from some more experienced breeders and see if this is common or cause for concern.

    It is very common.

You won't see it every time, but it happens often enough.

It's not a cause for concern unless you see a LOT.

I usually get males dragging their junk around, and the blood is in lines..

So as long as it doesn't look like a significant amount and you can't find the source, it is fine.

But I would check on the male penes to make sure they aren't swollen and infected.
