Starting new BP collection.
Im starting a new BP collection. In the past I have delt with some boas and I am currently housing a few of gtp's that i am keeping. I have been wanting to get into BP's for a while, I now have the chance to. I have a juvie rack with 10 15qt tubs. My question is what morphs are essential when starting up a new BP collection and do I want my males or females to carry more traits.
Thanks Rusty

i'd say start buy getting only females so they can be growing while you find a good male you want to breed them to.

Welcome to the world of Balls.
I'd say the easiest and most cost efective way to start would be to get yourself a bunch of Normal females and a couple of nice double co-dom males.
Maybe a Bee or 2, Lemonblast, Pewter etc.
It also depends on your budget and what you like in the snakes you get.
I personally love anything with Pastel mixed into it. Just me though..
Good luck,
Gavin

Re: Starting new BP collection.
honestly just go with what you like and what looks great to you. alot of people just get the "must have" or the cheapest morph they can get and then end up with a snake thats not very nice at all or possibly has somethin wrong wit it. i did this with a spider that had terrible wobbles just because i wanted the cheapest spider i could get, really wish i saved my money and got a nice bee. hope this help good luck

You will want to purchase some of the base morphs and if your budget allows, get double or triple morphs. Morphs like pastels are really the building blocks to some very nice combos.

I agree with this post. Dont listen to what people say to get. Get what you can afford and take care of. As well as get a morph that you want not one someone says is cool looking.
This website has almost every morph and depending on what your will to spend you should be able to find something on this site that you'd like to have in your collection. Once you find what morph(s) you want check your local classified or expo to see if they sell it.

Id suggest females before males just because females need more time to grow and become breedable.

Re: Starting new BP collection.
The quickest way to get some morph clutches is to buy adult normal females, males can be breed-able fairly young so you can raise up morph males and save some money by buying younger ones. There is no such thing as easy quick cash however, this won't be a way to get rich quick, but will give you experience with hatching some snakes faster than waiting a few years to raise up hatchling females.
A good way to have lots of fun is to find a combo morph you love the look of, and buy the snakes you would need to breed together to have a chance at producing one for yourself.
Don't break the bank, there's more to life than snakes.
Don't keep too many than you can spend the time and money to care for.
Have fun!

Re: Starting new BP collection.
are you trying to make money or are you trying to produce cool looking stuff
the recessive animals are more pricey but they're more rewarding (their hets are expensive normals, and the ones that show the trait are very pricey animals)
double co-doms make some super cool looking things so i would also suggest that
can't go wrong with a bumblebee - anything spider related is always AWESOME
bumblebees / pewters / mojave combos - all good

Re: Starting new BP collection.
I would start by getting co-dom and recessive females or hets.
