UTH on a painted tank bottom...

I have a 10 gallon that I want to setup for a new bp, who will be coming home soon (2010 male lesser). It was used as a fish tank and has the bottom and back panels painted black. Should I scrape the paint off the bottom before attaching my UTH? If it makes any difference, the paint is krylon fusion (spray bomb) and its been on for 6 months or more.

    Thanks for your opinions.

This is the new boy, picture sent from the breeder.

I would leave it. It shouldn't get hot enough to do any harm...of course on glass it should be easy enough to scrape off with razor blade...

If it were me, I'd take scrape the paint off the bottom and attach the UTH with foil tape.

I would scrape the paint off of the area where you plan on placing the UTH. For nothing else, to aid in the adhesion.

    Good Luck!
