    Arrow Driving me crazy!

Ok, so I have tried all kinds of things and I am starting to pull my hair out about this. I figure it is now time to ask a group of expert types. Here is my delimma...I have 5 tub rack and Flexwatt with a helix thermostat and the temp the helix is showing is different than the temps my thermometers are showing, about 94 degrees. I have 4 snakes in the rack right now and I have the probe in the third tub, the middle of the rack, on the bottom of the tub above the flex watt. I am using both accurite and zilla thermo/hygro meters and they are showing temps of about 80 degrees. Has this happened to anyone else? Do I have something broken or am I completely wrong with my setup? It confuses the hell out of me. Anything you guys could suggest would be extremely appreciated because I am starting to worry that I could cause damage to my snakes. Thanks for checking out my post...take it easy folks!

    Re: Driving me crazy!

Although I don't have a helix, my ranco does this too.

Where do you have the probes located?

    It should be like this:

Tstat probe: Tape on top of heat tape of the middle tub your speaking of.

Thermometer probe: Hot glue to the inside of the tub where the hot spot will be .

I then adjust the tstat until the thermometer probe is reading my desired temp. If it is off by more then 20 degrees there could be issues, but I have to set my ranco to 96-97 to achieve 90 degrees.

    Good luck!

    Re: Driving me crazy!

thanks so much, I am glad that I'm not the only person with this issue...I was starting to think I was inept at keeping a rack. When you hot glue your thermometer probe to the tub, do you place it on the bottom or more towards the top?
