    How to Kill?

My ball eats f/t rat pups right now and I buy them at a small, family owned herp shop in town. I know he breeds rats there that he sells live as feeders, I'm assuming he breeds the f/t ones and just kills them...? So my question is, for people who breed their own rats but still feed them to the snake dead, how do they usually kill them? I'm just curious...

CO2 is good if doing multiple kills at once, but if you are doing the, one by one then you should get a pencil, screwdriver, etc place it at the back of the mouse/rats neck and pull the tail up and back at the same time.

It should sever the neck instantly.

    Re: How to Kill?

My breeder only sells live and I have one p/k eater and I general just throw it against the wall as hard as I can to kill it instantly. If i needed to do more then one or two a co/2 chamber would be best. I know my method sounds barbaric but they die instantly and so it is humane.

    Re: How to Kill?

CO2 chamber and cervical dislocation are the two most common way people will euthanize their feeders.

Cervical dislocation you need to be proficient at it which is not the case for everyone.

CO2 chamber is great when dealing with large number.

If when I euthanize feeder which I do every now and than I use a CO2 chamber.

Dry ice is the solid form of Co2 BTW. I would just do F/T or let the bp do the job if your only feeding off 1 rat per week.
