    How long after feeding?

I just fed Maynard (my first ball python) for the first time today! I got him Wednesday and they told me that he eats Fridays. I wasn't sure if he would eat today, but i figured that it couldn't hurt to try. I dangled the mouse (F/T) in front of his hide for a few seconds then put it down, and he came out and WHAM!

I'm proud of the good strong reaction from him, but I'm wondering, how long should I let him alone to eat before I start to move about around his enclosure?

I give mine 36-48 hours. When you start to see the outline of his food disappear from his body its usually ok. However, since you just got yours this week, I'd give him at least full 48 just to let him relax and get comfortable.
