    Size of cage-To big ??

    Hello Everyone,

Ok so I have reserved a lemon pastel male and a normal female which should be ready in January-I know long wait but it's worth it!!!

I have a 33 gallon aquarium never been used before. I was wondering that it might be to big for one hatchling? I don't want neither to be scared in their cages. If it is to big for a hatchling it's fine as a I have alternatives I just don't want it to go to waste.

    Thanks,

    David

I think that might be too big for a hatchling, they tend to do best in small little houses without lots of room, it makes them feel safer and more secure 10 gallon or less in my opinion. My hatchling was very scared in his full 20 long, I divided the 20 long into about a 10x10 inch square a couple weeks ago, and he finally had his first meal with me and I've had him for almost 2 months.

Just to put another opinion out there...

I agree. A 33g will be too much space for a tiny baby. A 10g would work but I prefer to use tubs. A 6qt or 15qt tub would work well for a hatchling.

The tank is a little big for the hatchling but why not just make a divider in the tank limiting its space. Once it gets bigger, you can just remove the divider to give more room.

Go to a hobbie lobby and buy some plastic plants and fill the inside of the aquarium. Put 2 hides close to each other one hot and one normal. The snake will feel secure.
