Taking Eggs From Mommie

So I've been thinking about this, when I first bred snakes ever I was 10 years old and I breed a female albino over a male albino. Now I have always remember the moment when I slowly opened the cage and the female latched onto my hand and would not let go.

Now surely a BP bite must be 100x more painful? So my question is how would you take eggs from mommy?

Very carefully lol j/k some will let you take them without probs, you can cover her with a towel, then carefully uncoil her from the eggs, it helps to have an extra pair of hands.

First off you didnt say what kind of snakes you bred before hand....

Secondly, if you look up people getting bit here on the forum, you'll find out that bites from these snakes dont hurt.

They have TINY TINY little teeth that dont really do any damage. Sure you might bleed a little bit, but thats about it.

Just be fluid in your movements and keep your hands from right in front of her face and you should be fine.

I bred corn snakes, Ok will take all the advice into account when mommy lays her eggs can't wait!!! Thanks again

Both times my big female ball python laid eggs, she did become uncharacteristically nippy and defensive. I just put on a pair of big oven mits to remove her from the cage, so I could gather the eggs. Both times when I went to put her back in her cage after the eggs were out, she seemed to be back to her mellow self.

Put a hand towel over her head, grab her behind the neck, unwind her tail from the eggs, and remove her.

Once you have them off the eggs, they pretty much go back to normal--confused, but normal. lol

I definitely notice a difference in removing eggs from my ball pythons versus removing them from my corn snakes... much easier to remove from the corn snakes! The ball pythons also tend to completely wrap around the eggs so tightly... the corns just kinda lay them out there... (hence, they can dry quickly if not removed soon)
