The moment eggs are cut, bacteria begins to grow inside the egg. Some people cut that early but most dont. The black stuff is most likely just a build up of bacteria. If the babies are healthy otherwise they should be ok. Was there any sterile saline solution or bottled water added to keep the eggs filled? The more dry they become the worse the bacteria and mold can become. I wont get on anyone for cutting but I will recommend not cutting until after day 50 at least. I wait til first pip or day 54/55. Whichever comes first.

It could just be clotted blood from where he cut the eggs. It's inevitable that you are going to hit a vein or two when you do, no biggie. It could be that or like the other person said, bacteria build-up. I definitely wouldn't recommend cutting your eggs that early though. Day 46 is early even for a slightly warm incubator (91-92 degrees). Best of luck to your buddy.

Like said above, as soon as the eggs are cut they begin developing bacteria and fungi. Usually you will see a milky white film that will soon turn to black or green. It is fungi, but in most cases cause no problem. It is difficult to scoop it out because it is in the thick liquid, but you can try taking a cotton swab and twirling it through the discolored fluid. From my experience doing nothing with it, the snakes hatch out just fine. I have heard from retic breeders that they see snakes from eggs cut early, start eating later then snakes cut from eggs at the right time. They believe that the bacteria is absorbed through the umbilicus and gives the hatchlings a belly ache. But the yoke is metabolised by the liver.
