For the last couple of years there have been buzzards in my area, though I had never seen any here before that. They will perch on freeway overpasses and you can get a good close up look at them as you drive past them.
Detroit has been a breeding site for peregrine falcons (which are scarce here) for many years as they nest on tall buildings and are protected.
