    average wieght of hatchlings poll

what would you say is average wieght for a BP hatchling? feel free to share storys of some huge ones and some tiny ones

i've hatched my first three clutchs ever this year. 2 of them the babys were all 55g and 60g. the other clutch ranged from 65g to 75g. im hopeing that the bigger clutch's wieght means that their 5000g mother's hugeness is genetic and they will also be larger than average.

The first 2 ball pythons I ever bought were 50 & 63 grams at a month old.

I had a clutch that just hatched a week ago and they were between 62-70. I had the incubator thermostat set at 87.3* and it was the females first clutch. It will be neat to see how much of a difference it makes.

She's 5000g, it's not necessarily genetic it's about resources. She has a vast reservoir of nutrients to put into those eggs, thus the offspring are going to be bigger and have a better rate of survival.

Large snake (NOT FAT) means they can produce more eggs, larger egg size, etc. As for if they reach her size, they're on their way by starting with a leg up, but time will tell how big they get.

You can pretty much determine the size of the hatchlings from the size of the eggs. Large eggs tend to have larger yolks, and thus produce bigger babies. USUALLY it is larger snakes that lay larger eggs, but I had one first-timer 1600 gram female this year give me 5 ENORMOUS eggs, bigger than any I've had before, lol.
I'll have to wait and see what hatches. ^_^

I've had 'em as small as 24g (a twin) and as big as 104g.

I'd say usually ~50g. But I think egg size is a larger indicator.

My pastel female last year gave me 7 beautiful though really small eggs. Those hatchlings weighed an average of 30g when the pipped. By a few months they had caught up to hatchlings who hatched weighing more.

id say average is 65 grams for me but this year i hatched some lesser babbies from a large normal too and the biggest was 95 grams and the smallest from that clutch was 80 grams (10 eggs). now the smallest is gonna come from this clutch thats cooking, a half boob egg thats fertile so im gonna take a guess and say its gonna come out 30 grams if it hatches.

I just hatched out my first clutch, and they were all pretty chunky... lightest baby was 55g (came out with some unabsorbed yolk), heaviest was 78g, and the rest were between 65-72. So I voted for the average being 60-70, based on the average of mine.
