Burmese Python possible RI and a bad Vet

I wanted to ask for an advice those of you that have experience with albino burmese pythons .I've had my albino burmese python for 2yrs. For the past year I've noticed that he gets a lot of abrasions on the edges of his belly scales. I've noticed that the epidermis of the affected scales has come off and the scales or the edges of the scales turn pink to light brown. This guy is 9 ft 4yrs and 28 lbs and is very active and tries to come out of the cage every night unlike other Burmese pythons which are slow and sleep all the time. Lately I noticed that he wheezes a little bit from the nose when he moves and breaths hard, so I took him to the vet just in case. Big mistake ! This vet is known as an experienced herp in MA but seemed clueless when I described the situation and asked him for an advice if my husbandry was the cause of this . All he said was that the snake did not have any clinical symptoms and that he had decreased immunity due to stress and his normal bacteria were overpopulating as a result, so he gave me 10 shots of 100mg Baytrill in 1cc insulin syringes every other day. He did the first shot to show me how it's done and did not provide me with any reasonable info to what may be causing these conditions although I asked numerous times all sorts of questions and took $75 of my hard earned cash. Couple days later I noticed a developing lesion at the site of the first injection so I tried to contact him but he never returned my call. I continued the injections until the 6th one when I got really concerned since many lesions were developing and the python got really sluggish obviously in pain and refused a meal which he had never done before. Not to mention that he almost broke a couple syringe needles. I tried to contact that vet at least 10 more times with no luck . As I said I stopped the injections after the 6th one and my burm in a few days got as he was before and eventually ate his rabbit. He still wheezes a bit and has a few of those abraded scales. BTW every time he sheds his belly clears up but after a week or two he gets a few of these pink scales again. I've been keeping him on aspen in a vision 632 cage with a large RHP, thermostat and lights on a timer 12/12 since I got him over 2yrs ago. I would really appreciate it if you share some of your knowledge and let me know if any of your animals ever had Resp. infection with symptoms like mine and what was done about it.
    Thanks,
    J P

I know you are more experienced with giants than I am but my concern would be just about anything that is irritating his belly. What are you keeping him on in terms of substrate and what are the temps and what are you controlling them with? Have you ever measured the temp of the floor of the enclosure even though you use a RHP?

EDIT: Is the thermostat on the timer too? Do you have a night drop?
