when in mourning tattoo a pic of your mom in a bikini on your arm...
Specifically this one...

As many of you know, my jmom just passsed away at 77. So am working on my "MOM heart" tattoo sleeve.
I had some space left on the design and my sis posted this pic she found of my mom and I absolutely love it. She could not have been older than 14 or 15in it.
I am going to get the artist to make it a bit more rockabilly, and my one friend thinks that I "totally need to have her holding a severed zombie head and a sword!!!"
Initially I balked at that, but the more I think about it, if there was a zombie apocalypse I would want to be in her bunker and she WOULD be holding a sword and a severed zombie head. :^)
The "Mom heart" is going to be very nice. A take on the classic sailor tattoo, but it is coming together nicely and has all the elements I want in it so far.
Very excited about this project... and I have a consult for Sunday with a great artist.

oh... my bad... a bathing suit... not a bikini. I need to correct that before I feel a phantom hand slap my mouth and I taste some jewelery.

The heart will be my upper arm (full wrap around) and this will be the forearm. I think I want her on my forearm, classic cheesecake pin up tatt.

And it won't be a photo realistic portrait. She will be colored, and modernized, but it will be identifiable as her... well except for the sword and zombie head... and likely if I go there, she'll be wearing roller derby skates too.
I am tacky like that.

Thanks Chrissy and Danyelle.
I just love the look of confidence and youth in it.
One thing you cannot see in the pic is that my mom had eyes that went betweeen blue and violet... they will be violet in my tattoo.

Please think about what your memories will be in the next 20 years. I think a real tribute tat will mean more to you in the future. The added stuff will look cool, but maybe this one time, a solid, real memory on your arm will always mean more to you.
Enjoy your memory of your mom,
Jim Smith
