    Worried about eggs.

We recently bought a new house and during moving week, one of my het albino females laid 6 eggs. I had already moved the incubator to the new house, so I figured instead of bringing it back or chancing moving the eggs, we decided to try maternal incubation. I set up a box for her, humidity is good, they are on vermeculite and she has been taking good care of them, however they are very dented, maybe from her laying on them? I have never seen a clutch look like this. They are currently on day 40 and still have veins. They have looked like this since the day after she laid them. Any suggestions? I have laid damp paper towels on them for a couple hours, didn't seem to make a difference. Really hoping for an albino baby, the male is double het albino/pied. Will be happy with a couple healthy hets though!!!

What humidity have you been keeping the tub at?

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

One of mine did the same thing when I maternally incubated last year. It still hatched out a healthy baby. If they're still candling well and not going green on you, I'd say they're fine.

    Re: Worried about eggs.

I'll tell you something that was told to me by a world renowned ball python breeder. When you see dimpled eggs within the last 2-3 weeks it should give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside. When the eggs are fresh there is more fluid mass than there is snake mass, but once the snake has more mass than the fluid the egg will dimple. So again, dimples this far through incubation should give you a warm fuzzy feeling.

If they are all candling well, then you should still hatch babies.

My main concern is that they looked like this the whole time; not just recently. But I suppose we will have to see what happens. Next season will have incubator up and ready!! This is waaay too stressful!

    Re: Worried about eggs.

I have a clutch that looks like that, and also has since before day 30, and I've been a nervous wreck over them, too, so I feel your pain, lol.
However, they only have about 6 days left until pipping, so I guess they are fine. I'm going to cut one today and take a peek.

Worst is, it's my woma X lesser clutch, and I'm really counting on a woma-lesser this year.
