    Eye Issue

    Hi!

I acquired an apporoximately 3 year old BP off of Craig's list a few weeks ago. The snake was free which is a good thing because it has a couple of issues. Overall it seems to be in decent health, but underweight -- it only weighs about 700 grams. It has successfully fed the two times that I offered it prey.

The other issues are stuck shed and retained eyecaps. The previous owner stated that the snake never had a complete shed the entire three years that she had it.

The snake shed last night -- and it was a complete shed. (*** Just a side note for those of you trying to decided between a tank and a tub. I am housing the snake in a tub, and the other owner was using a tank and the worthless dial humidity gauges).

I checked the shed, and the eyecaps were indeed shed. It also looked like that part of the shed was a bit thicker -- like there were numerous eyecaps.

The eyes still don't look quite right; better than before, but there is still something going on. They look slightly bulged, and a little dented. Could there possibley still be a couple layers of retained caps? I don't think it is dehydrated. The rest of the snake looks fine, it has water, and the only part that seems to be off is the eyes.

Here are a couple of pics. It's kind of hard to see, but any ideas??

    Re: Eye Issue

Looks like retained eyecaps apply a lubricant or some antibiotic ointment w/o pain relief, or you can pale the snake in a dampened pillowcase for 30-60 min. and it'll rub it off
