    Fidel Eats 3 F/T Mice

While thawing out Fidel's mice he tried to strike out of the box through one of the small holes in the top of the box. Needless to say, he scared the crap out of me and unfortunately I didn't capture that on video. I did however capture him striking all three mice, though my filming skills on the first two are subpar, I had it figured out by the third mouse. I didn't have to do much of the "zombie dance" tonight, Fidel was ready and waiting as soon as I opened the box!

Good video. Do you weigh your mice before feeding?

Yes I do. At his last weigh in, Fidel was 617 grams, and tonight his meal weighed a total of 70 grams. According to my calculations, that's within the 10-15% range!

That's good. I always weigh my prey. I have to take my scale to the pet store with me because the employees speak in sizes, I speak in grams...

Nice video. This also helped me a lot. Because I was always curious as to what people do for multi-feeds. I wasn't sure if they did it back to back, or feed one day, and then another another day. And so on. So thanks for the video post. I found it educational from my point of view, and I will now know what to do if I ever cross this bridge.

I just got my scale a few weeks ago, and it's very convenient with the whole 10-15% of body weight thing. Would've been pert-near impossible to guesstimate, especially with my first BP.

Thanks! I think the whole being fed like one live mouse a month thing for a while taught him to eat when it's offered. (That was his previous owner's husbandry, not mine!)

Well you're welcome, glad I could help! Your results may vary from snake to snake as some of course may not take multiples, but I figure if he's already in the box and hungry, why not get a full meal in? (I do not have any rats to feed him currently or I would try feeding them to him, though I don't know if he's ever even seen a rat.) Basically I present one, wait for him to get it down after thoroughly constricting it of course (I give him about 10 minutes before I check), then I present the next one and repeat the process until he's eaten 10-15% of his body weight.
