Light Pink Belly
My BP has a light pink belly. Her bedding is newspaper. We just noticed it today when she was feeding. So now I'm worried that something is wrong. She's eatting just fine. And also use an overhead light. I've had her since Feb. for which was her last shed. Thank you for all your help.

Re: Light Pink Belly
It's a sign that she's getting ready to shed. Her eyes will also eventually turn a sort of milky blue, which is normal, too.
You may want to look into getting belly heat, though. Balls prefer it, and I found it difficult to maintain proper humidity levels. Now is the time to check your humidity levels to make it easier for her to shed.

More then likely she is indeed getting ready to shed...

Re: Light Pink Belly
If the substrate is not wet and in this case it is paper you should be looking at a pre-shed sign.
After a little experience you will notice a large difference in a pink belly indicating shed as opposed to a red/pink belly indicating you may have a problem within the enclosure.
Not all of my snakes however show signs with a pink belly so it is always good to keep a close eye and make sure everything is on par.

Re: Light Pink Belly
The Shedding Process
Belly heat is recommended. I suggest Flexwatt from reptilebasics.com, because prewired and shipped, several feet is still cheaper than a single heating pad. Make sure you have a thermostat with either, monitoring it directly (not inside the cage).
If you decide to change.
Check out the caresheet if you haven't.

Re: Light Pink Belly
Pink belly is a sign of shedding process. When she gets bigger don't worry if you see a little blood on your paper. The first time I found that one out I freaked out and thought things were wrong. Turns out she was completely fine, its normal when shedding.
I do agree with the humidity is key in their shedding process. Ball Pythons are not rocket science so don't get overly stressed out about it. It really depends on where you live too. I live in FL so I don't have a humidity issue along with worrying so much about keeping things perfect, its effortless for me in this state.
