Hitting multipe sire clutches
Ok, this is for the breeders out there. Those who often put multiple males to one female.
I'd like you to check your records and tell me how well you do with hitting a multi-sire clutch, please.

Re: Hitting multipe sire clutches
I have really only tried this about 4 or 5 times, but so far I am 100% on getting multiple sires to produce in a clutch. 2 of the attempts I have made have been for my clutch contests, which have been documented on this site. I did it again another 2 times this year, so we shall see.

how do you actually do it?
typical breeding is 2-3 days on, then 1 day off.
on the mutiple sire do you. 2-3 days on with 1st male. then off. then place the 2nd male in, then off. then back to the 1st male?

All I can say was it wasn't the Sterling that got in there. Sorry girl.

See... that goes along with my theory, about increasing the odds of normals with multi-sired clutches. Adding to that, I paired my normal with three co-dom morphs (pastel, mojave & spider), and the results were 5 normals and 1 mojave.
My thought is that you could have hit more than one dad, but the resulting offspring were normals - so you'd never know! And if each dad throws (for example) a 50% chance of making normals, that percentage would increase with each added morph. It's just a crazy thought, but I swear it makes some sense if you think about it.
Lolo's Collection...
Ball Pythons: 0.4 Normals, 1.0 Pastel, 1.1 Mojaves, 1.0 Black Pastel, 2.0 Spiders, 0.1 Lesser, 1.0 Orange Ghost, 0.1 Honeybee
0.1 Spotted Python, 1.1 Stimson's Pythons, 1.0 Jungle Carpet Python
3.4 Corn Snakes, 1.1 Western Hognose Snakes, 1.2 cats, and 1.0 dog (47lb mutt)

i was going to post this poll EXACTLY!
it makes sense that multi-sire clutches would produce more normals. when i first got into breeding snakes, i thought when the punnet squares showed 25% across the board, that meant 25% of the snakes would be that morph. much to my disappointment, i found out that meant each egg in the clutch has a 25% chance of being that morph.
i hatched a multi-sire clutch this year. albino x pastel, and i x'd her with a spider as well. 2 spiders, 4 normals. one of which sadly passed away, as it emerged prematurely.
i'm definitely interested in trying again next year though.
i wonder if doing a multi-sire with 2 males of the same dominant morph would increase your odds of getting that morph or not?
