Re: May Photo of the Month Contest!!
Very nice photos everyone! Fish are really cool. What is the species of number 3? Looks like a lava flow or something. Very cool!
Idea theme for next month: Non-biological natural phenomenons.
Ball Pythons
1.0 Normal "Draccy"
0.2 Normal "Matika", "Lara Croft"
1.0 Lesser Cinny "Thor"

#3 is an oscar cichlid. They are very cool fish that are more interactive with their owners than many species of fish. They can even be trained:

Here's an idea for POTM that could be really fun if we get some good participation. Take a photo of a relatively common object that everyone should be able to recognize, but take a detail of one small part of it or perhaps take the photo at an odd angle, so it becomes something of a riddle to figure out what the object in the picture is. Some examples: everyone can recognize a golf ball, but will they realize what it is if the picture is a close-up of the dimpled texture, with no context or size reference? Everyone can recognize a pencil, but will they realize what it is if the picture is a close-up of only the metal part that hold the eraser on? In judging the photos to decide which one to vote on, members can consider how much fun they had in solving the riddle.

That's what I was thinking too. Macro shots of common objects. People could be very creative with that.

On second thought, forget my original idea. I vote for you!!!
Also, thanks for the info on the oscar cichlid! If I ever have fish again (Mr. Fishy, my betta, died a few months back) I might get one of them. That's awesome that you can train them!!!
