    Red face I can't get over how tiny he is

    Hi,

    Lucien was really fired up earlier and got lovely and dark chocolate coloured.

    But by the time I got him ready for the pics he was light again and wouldn't go as dark.

    And just to give you an idea of how teeny he is;

    He is gaining a little weight - he was 6.37g the last time.

    I have to go to the west coast for 2 or three days so am currently feeding him dry Repashy GCD and plan on putting in a humid hide - will this be ok?

    If he is for sure eating the food then you are OK Just make sure he has a full bowl of water that'll last him, and having that humid hide won't be a bad idea.

    Even though I never owned a Crestie doesn't mean I haven't looked up their husbandry several times because they are too cute

    Re: I can't get over how tiny he is

    Looking good. Not that tiny though, compared to a hatchling. You'll make some of those soon enough though.

    I don't usually recommend feeding the CGD dry. Some people do, but it is generally not recommended (seems like it would be awfully easy for them to choke on the powder, being so dry). If you will only be gone for 2-3 days, just mix him up some fresh CGD right before you go and he'll be fine. They can eat from the same serving for 2 days and a day or two without fresh food will be fine since it's just a one time thing (or once every once in a while when you go out of town).

    OMG I'd never be able to think of handling anything that small - I panic enough with baby cornsnakes.

    Add in the sproingability of these lil guys and I'd have to be sitting in a cage before I'd think about it.

    I haven't actually given it to him wet yet ( I knew this was coming and saw how fast the Komodo went fousty ) I have had two runs of leaving the dry stuff in for three days and it does absorb some moisture from the air quite quickly and seems to get slighly clumpy but not mouldy so far. He seems to have no problem eating it at that stage.

    I made a tiny mixing bottle out of a hand sanitizer bottle and some small ball bearings - but he eats so little at one sitting I can't find anything small enough to serve it in that he eats it before it sets like concrete or goes off.

    Lol, he is a cutie! I was going to post a hatchling size reference too! To me your guy is a "big baby" in my book. I've got four 2 week old hatchlings that are very fond of jumping >_<
