    how to attract wild snakes?

What are some good ways to attract snakes to my yard? I have five acres, a three acre pasture with knee high grass, a larger pasture that my neighdor owns, a wood pile or two, a 1,600gal kio pond and we live close to the woods about 100yrds from a creek. I also have outdoor dogs and an outdoor cat along with some guinese(spelling?) would those affect the snakes?

I guess this is a pretty good snake year for us but I'd still like to attract more, I've read that using used rodent bedding would help, does it? if it does then I'll get some mice for that. So are there any other ways? Thanks.

I would think that the rodent bedding would help. I was also thinking if you breed snakes, maybe trying to get some of the scent glad tracks that they leave on the paper when you introduce the male.

From your description of the surroundings I am willing to bet money that there are quite a few out there you just don't see them.

Re: how to attract wild snakes?

I recycle my rodent bedding and use it as mulch. Seems to attract quite a few snakes species. I always see them hanging out on the sidewalk near the mulched trees.

Also, placing plywood, tarps, logs and tin metal, etc around open fields, fence lines, hills, near rivers, trees, etc. Check under them once a day, but place them exactly where you found them. It might take a few months before you start finding anything under them.
