Will a sick snake ever eat?

I think my snake just got over an RI. It was drooling and mucusing a little bit for a few weeks. It then proceeded to not eat for 3 months. I didn't have the money to take it to a vet so i turned up the temperature. Its not showing any symptoms any more and it ate yesterday for the first time in a long time.. Is it possible it recovered from its illness?

I don't know what was wrong with the husbandry in the first place... It might have been too humid. Its normally so hard to keep the humidity up in the winter in my room so i left some moss in its hide. I guess too little humidity is better than too much humidity.

Anyway, is it possible for a bp to get over an RI without medication?

Its very very doubtful that the snake is better without medication. Same with humans, if we get sinus infections there isn't much you can do without taking antibiotics to clear the infection.
What i imaging is happening is by upping the temp/humidity you have just slowed down the symptoms of this infection. And im willing to bet that since your moss is what caused this in the first place. Prolonged damp substrate is a major cause of RI's due to mold and such. RI's are not to be trifled with, they can easily lead to the death of your snake. So please stay on top of this and if you see any of these signs again make a vet appt asap.

So get rid of the moss and invest or make yourself a humidifier(there are posts on this forum how to make one using a 1L coke bottle) throw some saran wrap or a towel on top of the tank and call it a day.

Humidity may not have been the issue, they can be fine with a humidity level of 80%, but I am unsure without knowing your setup. Could have been stress or you just bought it like that, but no snake or reptile can get over a sickness. You can try to keep it from getting worse but without medication you won't be able to completely get rid of the sickness.

Since it may still be sick, try bathing it in warm water for 30 minutes every other day. That could help break down the mucus, but I know for a fact the snake is not over its sickness.
