    Super Mouse?!?!?

So one of my females gave birth 8 days ago to a litter of 11 babies. One of the babies already has a full coat of black hair, and it hasnt even been a full 8days since it was born. It is also much larger than the rest of the pinkies. None of the other babies even have any hair yet, and this one has a full coat of black hair and is almost twice the size of the rest of the litter!

Why is this? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I am shocked at how much larger and developed this one is than the rest of the litter. It's awesome.

Unfortunately my girlfriend took her camera to her house a couple days ago. I have to work in 2 hours but when she comes over tomorrow I will make sure to take a shot of the whole litter, then this big guy next to one of the pinkys so you can see what a monster he is.

    Re: Super Mouse?!?!?

If the other babies are light colored ones, it might be not so much that they don't have as much fur, as that the light colored fur is not as easily visible as the dark when it is first coming in.

There are definitely times when some babies get their fur a little sooner than others. Big thriving babies do seem to get their fur faster than littler babies that aren't doing quite so well.

Since it isn't unusual for babies to have a full coat of fur by day 8, I'm more concerned that there is something wrong with the rest of the litter, than that the big one is a super mouse.

Do you have any other litters in the tank? She may have stole one of the older litters pinkys.

Or like someone else said the others are light haired, and this one is dark haired.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

have you got more than one female per cage?
if so, could another female have had a single surviving offspring the week before without you noticing?
