    heat building in tub

Ok, I have a question tonight. I've got 2 41 qt. Sterilite tubs with 11" wide flexwatt across the back of both. I've got a Reptitemp 500R (possibly the problem) controlling the Flexwatt. No matter what I do, heat seems to build up in the tubs. I watch the temps for a few hours, adjusting, keeping it stable at 92 or 93, and by the same time the next day, they're moving beyond 95. I'm using all the standard stuff. AccuRite thermo/hydrometer. I've put one directly on the heat tape and I swear it doesn't get over 83. I'm still adjusting it. Meanwhile, the cool side ambient temp is around 70. The thermostat probe is taped directly onto the heat tape. Is it just the nature of the tubs? What could be wrong?

I've got my eye on a spyder robotics herpstat, but rent and school are the priority right now.
