    UV Lamp?

Getting in my first dragons next week. I was wondering about UV lamp that is a self-ballasted mercury vapor lamp which emits UVA, UVB and heat all in one lamp! Are these cool to use versus having two lamp's(heat lamp and a UVB bulb)

Mvbs are the best of the best Which brand where you looking at? I like either T-rex or ReptileUv.com's.

I agree MVB are great but depends on size of tank wether they will work though. I use them in all my adults tanks but they don't work in my juv tanks as they get to hot. I am a big fan of mega ray's(ReptileUv.com) they are great. I deff recommend using MVB if you can.

    Re: UV Lamp?

Ive used the 100 watts with 20 gallons with no problems. With a Ten gallon it would, but Id never put even the smallest dragon in a ten gallon because of the basking temp they need would be over kill, and they would outgrow it in a month.

    Re: UV Lamp?

I use a Power Sun bulb....but it is super important that it is at least 12 inches away from the reptile. I have had no problems thus far with this light...in fact I love not having to use 2 different lights.
