    Probing question

I probed my year old pastel male to double check the sex, and when I pulled the probe out something was like latched on to the probe, the probe was a reasonable size and i was using a ball tipped probe, i dont know if it was a hemipene or what, but it pulled out and I had to slide it off the probe with my finger and everything went back in fine. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, i probed both sides and it happend both times on each side. also do you think it would affect his breeding, i dont think i damaged anything im just worried because i dont know how sensitive it really is. thanks

    Re: Probing question

Never had that happen but I have had sperm plugs come out when removing the probe.
Keep an eye on it and be ready to see a vet if there is any blood or signs of infection.

    Re: Probing question

The probe was probably just a little too big and when the snake tightened its muscles, the hemipene came out with it. Make sure you use some sort of lube on the end of the probe to help prevent this. I use either A&D ointment or bacitracin.
