    Kinda worried about my snake

So Loki shed and pooped today and I thought everything was fine...until he went into the corner and let loose the most ungodly fart I have ever heard, human or beast. I am not in any way exaggerating, my entire family was in the room and we were all shocked into silence. His whole body was contorting and his mouth was opened in what looked like shock. From the fart (all three of them, each lasting about 2 seconds) he had a little diarrhea in the corner. He then wandered to his hide, but twisted his body oddly. He turned his head counterclockwise and slowly worked his way into the hide.

Now I understand snakes fart and I have heard him fart as well, but this one honestly worried me. Has anybody had any kind of experience like this? Or any idea if it is normal?

I guess I've never heard a real loud fart from a snake. Maybe some farting sounds while they were pooing.
    Hope Loki is OK.

This is happening with my snake as well. She has been to the vet, and she thinks it is worms. My vet wormed her, and we're just taking it from there. I wish you luck, but I would suggest a vet.

Re: Kinda worried about my snake

I've seen and heard the same thing, sometimes when they don't digest perfectly well, like humans they can and do fart nastily and then poo liquid.
I got scared out of my chair last I heard one of my big girls do this. I went to investigate, watched her squirm about, open her mouth several times as they do when re-aligning their jaw after eating.
With tail raised way up high, she fart so hard it shot poo against the walls of her tub and again amazed me how loud she could be.
This was a month or so ago, she has been her normal self ever since

Re: Kinda worried about my snake

The same thing happened to me once. I was the only one in the room and I seriously thought someone was playing a trick on me. I basically blamed it on myself! It was hands down the loudest fart I had ever heard in my entire life.

Ok thank you all so much! Never in my life did I imagine a noise like that from a snake so small...i'm just glad my family was in the room as well, so that I don't sound crazy trying to explain

I imagine the odd movement is due to the fact that it couldn't be very comfortable, lol.

I would just keep an eye--if you see any further sign of diarrhea or digestive problems, weight loss, or poor appetite, then have a parasite check done.
