    Just the head ??

So I feed my bp on monday and was not expecting him to eat...
the first meal he ever had was at 4/6 wks old( I got him form a pet store they had never feed him nor had the person they got him from)
he had to be helped a littel another bp owner helped me . once we had the head in his mouth he went after it coiled it up and eat and did not thow up .
so she said wait about 5 days and try to feed him again becuse he is sooooo skinny he needs to eat sooner if he will .
So I offered a f/t (thats what she fed him ) and he went for it BUT it freaked me out I was not perpared I did not think he would do it soo I flinched and pulled back the tongs and all he got was the head . So I gave him a min to get that down and offered the rest he did not want it. so I was thinking about trying again what do u think ?? Is it too soon to feed him again ?

    Re: Just the head ??

So you assist fed the snake and offered it food on monday and he ate it? Then you tried to offer a second prey item and he did not eat it?

Your post is kind of confusing.

I would say just wait another 5 days and offer food again. Don't offer day after day after day, that will stress them out.

Ummmmm, did you say you jerked the tongs back and the snake ate only the mouses head? If so, why did the mouses head detach so easily?

If I am reading this correctly... The head ripped off? How are you heating up the F/T Rodent? They tend to fall apart easily when they are "cooked".

Yea if he took the head it seems as if u cooked it not thawed it

Its like ripping chicken it comes apart a lot easier if its cooked compared to being raw

as far as feeding ..... I assist fed on thursday of last week then I was told to try again on monday after 5 days so thats when he only got the head off and did not want any more so thats why I was wondering if I should try feeding him again

If you're feeding him every five days, I'd wait til tomorrow night. Most recommendations are if they don't eat, wait until the next feeding.

I think we're all totally mystified on how the head of a mouse could be pulled off by a human and a ball python. O.O

    Re: Just the head ??

Was the water hot or warm? If you warm it up to much then it will fall apart. I tend to only warm mine about 30-45 min in a ziploc baggie put in water about 111*F. Then the rat goes from room temp to 90-95*F.

Oh wait!!! Did you thaw the rodent in warm water? If so next time let it sit on a table or something for like 8 hours and completely thaw at room temp. Then warm it up in >warm< water.
