IMO the mediums are good for pythons around 500 grams, if the snake is larger than that I would go with the large hide.

I would say an adult colubrid would be more comfortable in a large hide.

Yes I have RBI racks and hides, they are made out of 1/16 thick ABS material, being non-porous they are easy to clean.

I use them because they are easy to clean. I think they are made of ABS plastic. My 850g BP can sqeeze into a medium but he will be upgraded in a couple of weeks. For a juvie, I would say go with a medium. The smalls are tiny, about hatchling size. If the medium seems too big, you can fill in some of the space with some balled up paper, or, if you are using wood type substrate, you can scrunch it down in the substrate to make the ceiling lower...

    Re: reptile basics......

I use their small hides for snakes up to around 300 grams, then I switch them over to the medium hides until about 600 grams. After that I don't offer hides in my rack.
