This may be a stupid question...
Is there anything that can be transmitted by air to other snakes? Meaning, if precautions are taken, can one snake be quarantined in the same rack as the already known healthy ones? You'd have to be very careful to wash hands in between touching the individual tubs, and I suppose mites could get around, but could it be done?
Not saying I'm going to do this, I've got a quarantine area, just wondering if it's possible.

Re: This may be a stupid question...
I would'nt do that, no one knows how IBD is transmited for sure so even with the the most stringent hand washing you cant be sure I don't even keep them in the same room as my other ones during quarintine.

Re: This may be a stupid question...
Roughly 2 years ago my sons dad picked up a boa at a local show. It didnt look very good and died about a month later. You never know what a snake may have and because of his experience I no longer quarantine snakes in the same room as my others. Im curently quarantining a new snake in a 10 gal aquarium in my bedroom and I have only taken him out once in 2 weeks. I didnt leave my room with him either. Im just freakedout by the thought of IBD. I know its much more common in boas but it is much more deadly in pythons. Mites will quickly crawl from a tub to another tub. They can spread fast so that is another reason for keeping in a different room.

Re: This may be a stupid question...
I think I read someplace where certain types of RI can be transmitted through air. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong...
