Need some advise on changeing to F/T

I am having trouble getting my normal girl to eat F/T. My pastel picked it up no problem but she just wont go for it, wich is surprising she is a pig. I have tried the blow dryer and heating the rats under a lamp etc, are there any other tricks I should try?

Get some used mouse bedding from a pet store, rub the mouse in it, then blow dry to make the scent stronger. You may have to do the "zombie dance" to entice her a bit more.

Re: Need some advise on changeing to F/T

My method is to lead with a small live item, like a hopper mouse, then follow up with a larger f/t item. And if they refuse the f/t item, then the hopper is all they get until next week or even the week after.

But it's still spring. They'll get hungrier as the summer wears on, and you can use that to your advantage. If she's still holding out in August, and you skip a week on her then, she'll be looking a lot more kindly at the f/t prey...

(I feel your pain: my 2007 het lavender has been taking f/t for the last six months, but only if I lead with a live mouse. And meanwhile my het pied boy is eating after 5 months of anorexia, but only live mice. I imagine everyone will be back on f/t in another month or two, but in the mean time it's driving me nuts, having to drive 4 miles to the reptile store every other week to feed these guys. GRRRR.)

try using f/k to transition to f/t if you have live prey available ...good luck.
