    Snake hiding to much?

Okay okay I know they hide thats there thing. But It's just in her routine to come out at night and poke around a little. I mean she always knocks over her humidity moniter it's like her favorite game.

Her humidity is around 72, Same three hides she's always had. She's been eating nice and aggressive two small arctic mice a week. She seems to favor this one hide thats on the one small part of the cage thats to cool. That hide stays about 76.

Another hide is usually 82-85 and another is 91-93.

I haven't seen her come out all week and I checked her tummy today and it didn't seem pink. It seemed tan. I dunno I think maybe I wanted to see pink but it didn't scream pink to me.

IS she just very settled in now and thats why she's not coming out at night...I don't think she's gonna shed because her stomach wasn't very pink and she didn't snap at me when I picked her up.

I dunno I'm probably worrying to much but it's just odd.

That's pretty much what they do, they spend most of their time hiding.

    Re: Snake hiding to much?

Yeah I mean I figured, but if she's gonna shed it would be my first ever BP shed and I'd wanna be on top of it like a pro. Or as close as I could be.

EDIT: yeah she usually chills for a few days after she eats two but I feed on sundays so that ain't it.

Don't think too much of it. A happy ball python is a hiding ball python. It's when they are restless and out all the time you should be worried.

    Re: Snake hiding to much?

Are all your hides identical? Some Ball pythons will prefer the more secure hide over the other, so that's why she could be hiding in the cooler one often.

Don't worry too much, if she is new, new Ball pythons normally roam around their enclosures for their first few days to a week in their new home. Don't be too worried if she's hiding too often, that's what you want.

    Re: Snake hiding to much?

If shes young it sounds like her setup could be overwelming (like too much space)with three hides. If she is a neonate she'll do better in a more confined space.

    Re: Snake hiding to much?

Mine will sometimes spend more time hiding every now and again in his case usually after a somewhat bigger meal or shed. I am sure that in a week or two yours will resume the nightly meanderings. Coming out at night is normal and follows a natural pattern, give it some time and every thing will return to normal. Good Luck

No I use identical hides, what I like to call my upturned flowerpot lid special.

I think I am probably just worrying to much, her cage is big enough for an adult but I put in extra hides and clutter and she's thriving. I just can't help but wonder if she's due for a shed because I got her at the end of march and she hasn't shed yet.
