Anyone having issues with the Herpstst II?

I just picked up a Herpstat II and think there might be a problem. I have 2 identical racks right next to each other set at 91F. One is reading 88.4F and the other is at 106F. Both zones were set correctly as far as I can tell, and both temps were confirmed with a laser temp gun. I have disabled the unit for obvious reasons until I hear back from either Spyder or my rep. Any troubleshooting ideas are welcome.

If you open up the "search" feature in the top dark blue header bar, click on "advanced", type in "Spyderrobotics", it will bring up a list of threads in which they discuss some of the issues in other threads. I was just in there a little while ago looking for some other info, and noticed that some of the threads they had posted in were Herpstat II threads...

are you taking the measurment with the temp gun on a reflective surface? That could mess with the reading.

K hit the nail on the head there....I had the same problem but I was temp gunning it directly onto the tub. It reflects and messes up the temp reading. Put down some papertowels and then try the gun.

LOL My wifey gets mad when I blame her for random stuff

As for my problem my rep. called me back and we went through some troubleshooting. Turns out when I switched the 2 probes for the heck of it, everything straightened itself out and is reading 90.8- 91.2 right where I want it and the temp gun confirmed. I wasn't having an issue with getting a reading from the gun, I was having a problem with the stat pushing too much heat through the tape for no apparent reason. Thanks for the feedback though. Everybody is happy and taking their late night stroll as we speak.

I was just going to suggest that, but they beat me to it. I have the same problem with my Herpstat II. There isn't anything at all wrong with it, but why is probe one on the far left, and probe two just to the right of it? lol...

Yes I agree it's a bit of an odd layout. Hopefully it is fixed for good now.
